Last week I attended via Zoom a “Yoga for Palestine” workshop hosted by ABCD Yoga. I appreciated the level of scholarship and detail and getting to hear South Asian perspectives and interpretations. I highly recommend reading Sheena Sood’s paper on “Omwashing” and checking out the offerings of ABCD Yoga.

Here’s Murugan (a/k/a Subramanyam or Kartikeya) with a fantastic peacock ride (vahana) in one of the magical pieces of fabric on exhibit at the Textile Museum. I wish the evident influence of colonialism and global capitalism that influenced what textiles were created and preserved over the centuries.
State of the Garden
I think during World War II, backyard gardens supplied something on the order of 40 percent (don’t quote me on this) of the nation’s produce.
